Somali police forces have arrested two armed robbers after they responded to a call that reported an armed robbery in a street at Bakara market On Wednesday morning.

Somali police forces have arrested two armed robbers after they responded to a call that reported an armed robbery in a street at Bakara market On Wednesday morning.

The armed men who were on board a rickshaw robbed the local residents and business people of valuable belongings including mobile phones, computers among others.

The police forces who reached the scene immediately gave a chase to the robbers who tried to escape and arrested two of them who sustained injuries during a shoot-out near Dahabshil main headquarters in Bakara market.

One of the robbers escaped unhurt but the forces in charge of the operations said they are following him.

The wounded suspects have moved the headquarters of the Criminal Investigation Department in Mogadishu where they are interrogated.

The police also recovered weapons used by the robbers during the operations.

This operation comes as the number of armed robberies in the capital has been on increase in the last few weeks.
