Al-Shabaab Deserts Areas In Central Somalia

Al-Shabaab militants reportedly vacated from areas in Mudug region in the past 24 hours.

Reports indicate that Al-Shabaab fighters left Deeqlo and Marale, located on the outskirts of Harardhere district of the region.

It is not yet known the reason behind the withdrawal of the militants, however, Galmudug forces have already started military exercises there.

There has been no word from al-Shabaab about the retreat of its fighters.

There is a tense situation in the areas around Harardhere as local residents say they are worried that fighting will erupt there at any time between Al-Shabaab and regional troops.
