Somali PM Meets With Security Chiefs In Mogadishu

The prime minister of Somalia’s Federal Government, Hassan Ali Khaire held meeting the country’s top security chief amid a surge in attacks by Al-Shabab in the capital Mogadishu.

The meeting which took place at the Police headquarters in Mogadishu has focused on the security gains made in the past months and how to overcome the challenges ahead.

According to the sources, the premier has praised the government security agencies for the valuable efforts to secure the capital which has been relatively calm since Ramadan.

The government has established a task security force, dubbed “Mogadishu stabilization troops” that beefed up the city’s overall security as they also conduct routine operations.

Somali government backed by 22,000 African Union forces is fighting against the Al Qaeda-linked Al-Shabaab militants who still continue to control a large swathe of territory.
