Somali court sentences soldier to death for civilian murder

A Somali military court sentenced Hassan Mohamud Dhiblawe to death for killing Mohamed Awil Jama, a Tuk-Tuk driver, in August 2019 in Mogadishu.

Dhiblawe who is a soldier will face the firing squad if he fails to appeal the court ruling.

Somali soldiers have been accused of killing civilians on the streets of the capital and elsewhere in the country aimlessly due to the weak justice system.
