A delegation led by Somali National Army (SNA) chief Gen, Dahir Adan Elmi is paying his first visit to Kismayo, the administrative capital of Jubbaland State since he took office.
Gen. Elmi and his delegation are holding talks with the leaders of Jubbaland state, including President Ahmed Madobe at the presidential palace of the state.
The aim of Elmi’s tour is to inspecting the military bases of the Somali army in the region and assess the security situation as well as the fight against Al Shabaab.
It has not yet being disclosed the issues discussed by the officials during the meeting.
Among the delegates is Ali Mohamed Mohamud, the commander of the 43rd battalion of SNA in Jubbaland who was deported from Kismayu in July over his appointment as the commander of 43rd Battalion.
Jubbaland authorities cited lack of consultation during the appointment of Mr Mohamud.
