Dozens of Somali leaders from Kenya and Somalia thronged Wajir in Kenya’s northeast Saturday to receive the Degodia King Wabar Abdille who is on a tour of the region.
A convoy of vehicles escorting the revered leader snaked through Wajir town welcomed by leaders from the region Saturday afternoon as locals received the Degodia leader in jubilation.
Eldas MP Adan Keynan said in his Twitter post the Degodia King will be in Wajir ‘for a number of days to preach peace and unity before proceeding to Mandera.’
Prior to his visit to Wajir, the Degodia leader was last week at State House Nairobi where he was hosted by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Among the Degodia who largely inhabit Kenya and southern Ethiopia, the crown is inherited through family lineage.
