Somali, AU troops carry out an operation in Gedo region

Reports from Garbaharey town in the Gedo region confirm that heavy fighting broke out between Somali forces backed by AMISOM troops and Al-Shabab.

The security operation was carried out by security forces in the area, interrogating people and drivers after a large number of people were arrested, according to the officials.

The commander of the 10th Battalion of the 43rd Division of the Somali National Army Colonel Warfa Sheikh Aden Farole who spoke to the media said that the plan of the operation is to ensure the general security of Garbaharey town.

Major Warfa also called on the people of the Gedo region not to hide in the houses of the insurgents and to inform the security agencies.
