Ex-Somali president dies of COVID-19 in Nairobi

Former Somali president, Ali Mahdi Mohumad has died of Covid-19 in Nairobi, the capital city of Kenya aged 82. 

According to his relative who spoke to the media, Ali has been in Nairobi for past few days after being hospitalised with the novel coronavirus. 

Ali who became president January 26, 1991 had served the office for about six years but his term was marred by civil war in Mogadishu between his fighters and supporters of late Gen Mohamed Farah Aidid.
