A roadside bomb struck a military convoy ferrying Ethiopian troops of AMISOM contingent in the outskirts of Baidoa, the interim administrative capital of Southwest state.

The bomb has ripped through the convoy while traveling at Awdinle village in Baay region on Thursday morning. The details of the casualties were not immediately clear.

Al Shabaab has claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it burnt a military vehicle and inflicted a heavy loss on the Ethiopian forces serving with AU Mission to Somalia [AMISOM].

Nuradin Yusuf, the spokesman for Southwest state has denied Al Shabaab as baseless and propaganda, adding that there was no any attack in the vicinity of Baidoa on Thursday.
