US airstrikes hit Al-Shabaab targets in Central Somalia- Federal Government

 U.S airstrikes hit Al-Shabaab targets in Central Somalia Sunday morning, the Federal Government has said.

The Ministry of Information said two airstrikes hit Al-Shabaab firing positions at mid morning between Baadweyn and Amara towns in Galmudug State.

The strike is the second in about ten days and the third one since president Joe Biden took office in January.

A similar strike hit Al-Shabaab targets in the vicinity of Galkaayo Town according to a statement by US Africa Command.

In today’s strikes, Somali government said ‘large Al-Shabaab firing positions’ were hit in support of Danab special forces operations in the region.

Somali National Army has been conducting operations against Al-Shabaab in Mudug region in the last one month with the support of Galmudug State forces
