UNSC to endorse new AU mission in Somalia

The UN Security Council is expected to meet today, March 30, to approve the mandate and approval of the ATMIS operation.

The new mission will end in 2024, after which all responsibility will be handed over to the Somali security forces.

The Somali government wants ATMIS to focus on the implementation of the Transition Plan for Somalia.
