Thousands Of Somali Students Sit For A Unified National Exams

Thousands of Somali students sit for their final secondary examinations on Saturday in the capital and four Federal member states in the country.

Somalia’s Minister of Education, Abdirahman Dahir Osman said the exam is taking place in 120 centres located in some of the major cities.

Osman added that more than 27,000 students from all secondary schools in Mogadishu have been enlisted for the exams.

Meanwhile, hundreds of Somali Security forces were deployed to all the exam centres to enhance the security and prevent possible Al Shabaab attacks.

On the other hand, the ministry said it has delayed the examination of 1,400 students who were expected to sit for their exams in the flood-hit towns, including Beledweyne.

Somalia is trying to revive its education sector which has collapsed during the civil war after the fall of Somalia’s central government in early 1991.
