Suspected Militants Attack Army Official’s Residence In Somalia

Jeynali Mohamed Farole escaped unhurt from the raid on his house in Hawadle area in Middle Shabelle region, which local authorities described as an apparent assassination attempt on his life.

The attackers were repulsed by the officer’s security guards during an intense gunfight. There was no immediate confirmation of the losses on both sides.

The motive behind the assault and identity of the perpetrators are yet unestablished, however, the security forces are investigating the incident, according to the villagers.

Al-Shabaab, the Somalia-based Al-Qaeda-linked Islamic group often carries out such attacks in the country, targeting government officials, SNA soldiers and AU troops.
