Quranic teacher poisoned by his wife in Beledweyne

 Police in Beledweyne on Wednesday say that a local Quranic teacher was killed by his wife.

Ma’alim Omar, a Madarasa Quranic teacher in the Hawo-Tako neighbourhood of Beledweyne, was allegedly poisoned by his wife – who he recently married – and was found dead in the home he shared with her.

Investigators believe that the man consumed food prepared by his wife, spiked with a highly toxic insecticide.

Security forces in Beledweyne have arrested the woman while she was attempting to flee the city. They added that they are continuing their investigation.
