Police officer sentenced to death for murder of civilian in Baidoa

A police officer was sentenced to death Saturday in South West state after he was found guilty of killing a civilian this year.

A military court sitting in Baidoa declared constable Osman Ibrahim Abdi of the Somali Police Force guilty of killing Ahmed Madnur Mursal in Baidoa town on January 2021

Court judge Aden Mohamed said the court had established beyond a reasonable doubt that Abdi was responsible for the death of the deceased in a market in Baidoa.

The defendant has 30 days to appeal the case.
