Garowe City Gets New Mayor Following An Election

Ahmed Saeed Muse has been elected as the new mayor of Garowe city, Puntland capital on Wednesday following a vote by the members of the city councils.

Muse has received 18 votes while his rival Ahmed Abshir Jama got 9 votes in the first round of the election held in Garowe on Wednesday.

He served as Puntland MP for nine years.

During his mayoral campaign, Ahmed Bare said strengthening the city’s security is his first priority. He also pledged to promote hygiene and improving infrastructure.

Hundreds of Garowe residents took to the social media to welcome the new mayor of the city for the next five years.
