The ambassadors of countries with embassies in Somalia and international bodies such as the United Nations and African Union envoys were present at a dinner hosted by the Villa Somalia to mark the 59th anniversary of the Somali Independence.

The head of state told the representatives that despite the decades of security challenges the country is on the right path to recovery.

The President appreciated the unwavering support received from the members of the international community to his government in its quest to stability and development in the horn of the African nation.

Somali leader said the Federal government is committed to strengthening bilateral relations with its international community partners.

The pledge comes as relations between Mogadishu and Nairobi is at all time low due to the difference of disputed maritime border along the Indian Ocean waters.

Somali Foreign Affairs Ministry submitted a letter of complaint to Kenya ambassador to Somalia, Lucas Tumbo on Monday in response to an offensive tweet by Kenya’s foreign affairs principal secretary, Macharia Kamau that term Somaliland as Independent country.

The tweet was posted during a meeting between ambassador Kamau and Somaliland Foreign Minister, Yassin Hajji Mohamud in Nairobi last week.
