Bodyguard of former MP killed in IED blast in Mogadishu

One person was killed and two others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in hit a land mine in Mogadishu.

One person was killed and two others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in hit a land mine in Mogadishu.

According to police sources, a vehicle belonging to former member of the Federal Parliament Muhyadin Hassan Afrah ran into an improvised explosive device (IED) in Kaaraan district located in the southeastern of Mogadishu.

Former MP and also social activist was however not in the vehicle at the time of the incident. His bodyguard was killed and two other people were injured.

 

The attack comes barely a day after three intelligence officials were gunned down in Waberi district in Mogadishu. The militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility.

In a similar development, at least six people were also killed Monday in Dhobley located in Lower Juba when the vehicle they were in hit a land mine.
