Assailants shoot dead father and his two children in Galkaayo

Armed men shot dead two siblings and their father in Galkaayo Saturday night under unclear circumstances.

Sources said the men fired at the family of Hassan Diriye Elmi Walid killing him and his two children in Saah-qurun locality located in the west of Galkaayo in Mudug region.

A third child, an eight-year-old boy was injured during the attack that left locals shocked. The mother of the three children was reportedly not at home when the incident happened.

There was no immediate comment from local authorities and neither was any claim of responsibility.

Killings in Galkaayo are common in a region that has witnessed Al-Shabaab attacks and clan-based violence for several years.
