A Gunfire Reported In Kismayo Following The Arrival Of US Envoy

An exchange of gunfire between Jubbaland forces and militiamen loyal to former Jubbaland government spokesman Abdinasir Serar erupted in Kismayo on Wednesday.

The two sides clashed at a security checkpoint in the port city following the arrival of US ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto early in the day.

There was no immediate information on the casualties.

The skirmish came amid a meeting between Jubbaland president Ahmed Madobe and U.S ambassador to Somalia Donald Yamamoto at the state presidential palace.

The situation in the coastal city has returned to normal, per sources.
