Unidentified warplanes were reported to have bombed suspected Al-Shabaab targets in Lower Shabelle region of southern Somalia on Wednesday.

Local residents who spoke to Radio Shabelle station in Mogadishu over the phone said the fighter jets fired several missiles at semi-forest locations thought to be Al-Shabab bases.

There have been no reports of casualties on Al-Shabaab militants in the bombarded areas between Lanta-buur and Arbiska towns in Lower Shabelle region, south of Somalia.

It’s yet unclear which country belongs to the warplanes targeted Al-Shabaab, however, the US and Kenyan air forces have been conducting such air strikes in the country in the past years.
