Update: Eight killed in military base explosion in Mogadishu

 Eight people have been killed and 14 others injured following a car bomb attack at a military base in Mogadishu.

The free medical service provider Aamin Ambulance said the attack which happened at the 12th April Army Brigade resulted in the death of 14 people.

It was not immediately clear if the dead included soldiers.

The military base is located near the newly opened National Stadium in Warta Nabada district in downtown Mogadishu.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility but the militant group Al-Shabaab has often conducted such attacks in the city.
