The United Nations (UN) and African Union (AU) special envoys have arrived in Kismayo city as they start talks to weigh in on the ongoing political crisis in Somalia.

The spat between federal government and its state-members has been escalating for the past weeks after the state leaders announced to have suspended all relations.

Delegation jointly led by UN envoy Nicholas Haysom and head of Amisom Francisco Madeira has arrived in Kismayu, the administrative capital of Jubaland state.

The officials were received by Jubbaland leaders at the airport before they escorted to Jubbaland Presidential palace.

The two envoys are expected to hold talks with Jubbaland leader, Ahmed Madobe on wide range issues including the security, progress, and concerns of the state.

The development comes barely a day after the two envoys met with Senate speaker Abdi Hashi over the efforts of the House to mediate the federal government and member states.
