There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the overnight bomb attack, however, the local security officials pointed the finger of the blame at Al Shabaab militant group.

The exact casualty figures of the attack remain unclear.

In a separate incident, Puntland state forces stationed in the Gulf of Aden port city of Bosaso last night, according to an eyewitness, who spoke to Radio Shabelle by phone.

The incident took place at Biyo Kulul village in Bosaso with no reports of casualties.

The regional troops rounded up several suspects in connection with the attack which came hours after a battle between Al-Shabab and ISIL-linked militants broke out in Bari region.
