Unified Somalia’s National exams for grade 8 schools started in the country on Saturday morning after a landmine blast struck one of the places set for the examination in Mogadishu on Friday night.

This comes as the government has said adding schools will reopen next month.

Somali Minister for Education, Abdullahi Goddah Barre said class eight exams kicked off.

He also confirmed that high school candidates will sit for their exams on July 18.

The exam will continue for about a week in central southern Somalia.

Puntland rejected to carry out the National exam and said it has started its own exams in the state last week.
