Tension Rises After Businessman Shot Dead In Las Anod Town

A well-known Somali businessman was killed in Lasanod town, the capital of Somalia’s northern Sool region on Saturday night, residents said.

Unknown gunmen have shot and killed Mohamed Abdi Timir outside his house in the town and then fled the scene before the arrival of the local security forces.

Timir was a famous businessman in the town, according to the residents.

No one has yet said they were behind the killing of the businessman but his killing has sparked tension in the city which is under Somaliland control.
