Southwest State President Trying To Solve Pre-Election Violence Grievances

The newly inaugurated president of Southwest State of Somalia, Abdulaziz Mohamed Hassan, known as Laftagareen is making efforts to solve the public grievances.

He is reported to have held a series of meetings with local elders, in an attempt to move the Federal State forward and set aside all that happened before his election in December.

The speaker of the national assembly, Mohamed Mursal is also spearheading the reconciliation in Baidoa, where 15 civilians were shot dead by the police last month.

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has been in the city last week for two days following the inauguration of the Southwest State president and held talks with the elders.

The Somali government has expelled the UN envoy Nickolas Haysom after demanding the country’s security ministry to give an explanation about the civilian killings in Baidoa town.
