Somalia Reaches Crucial Agreement With Oman

Somalia’s Minister of Air Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abdullahi Salad (Oomaar), who spoke to the SONNA [Somali National News Agency] while he is in Canada, said he had reached an important agreement with officials from the government of Oman on the sidelines of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conference.

Somalia’s Minister of Air Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Abdullahi Salad (Oomaar), who spoke to the SONNA [Somali National News Agency] while he is in Canada, said he had reached an important agreement with officials from the government of Oman on the sidelines of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conference.

Minister of Oromar accompanied by the Director of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority Ahmed Moalim has reached a Memorandum of Understanding with the delegation of the Oman International Aviation Authority and agreed upon bilateral aviation and civil aviation cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement coincides with the International Conference on the International Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada, which has entered into the second phase of the first and second elections of the permanent member states for the next 3 years.

Somalia was represented at the conference by HE Mohamed Abdullahi Salad (Omaar) Minister of Air Transport and Civil Aviation.

The Minister and his delegation held separate meetings with some of the international delegation after the vote, discussing a number of issues. and to strengthen cooperation and relations with Somalia in these countries.

The delegates that the Minister met, include some from Germany, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, South Africa, Qatar, Malaysia, and the regional aviation organizations of the Arab League (ACAO) and the AFCAC.

The Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission for Somalia, Ambassador Mahamat Saleh Annadif has congratulated the Federal Government of Somalia.

The biggest achievement is that Somalia is now officially in control of its airspace, more than 25 years since the collapse, thanks to efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia.
