Somalia loses to South Sudan in round one of Fiba Afro Basketball Pre-qualifiers

Somalia put up  a brave fight but lost to South Sudan in the ongoing Fiba Afro Basketball Pre-qualifiers in Nairobi Tuesday.

Somalia put up  a brave fight but lost to South Sudan in the ongoing Fiba Afro Basketball Pre-qualifiers in Nairobi Tuesday.

In the final round, South Sudan won by 114 points to Somalia’s 79. In the first quarter, Somalia came close with 17 points against South Sudan’s 25 with some brilliance performance from Sheikh Mohammed and Mohammed Wahid.

The South Sudan opened a comfortable lead in the second round beating Somalia by 63 to 39 before securing an overall win in the final round.

Meanwhile Kenya beat Eritrea 112-64 in the first round of the match played at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi.
Somalia will today play Burundi while Kenya take on Tanzania.

Seven zones will play pre-qualifiers in January 2020 with the five group winners making it to the FIBA Afro Basketball 2021 in Rwanda.
