Somali Troops Retake Villages From Al-Shabaab After Operation

Somali forces [Danab] were reported to have seized full control of fresh areas in the Lower Jubba region from Al-Shabaab militants.

Army officials the US-trained troops captured Abdi Dore, Berhani and Hadweyn following a well-organized operation targeting militant-controlled areas in the region.

Al-Shabab controls large parts of rural Lower Jubba and all of Middle Jubba, and has been carrying out attacks against government and AU peacekeeping troops in both regions.

Somali forces backed by AU and US soldiers have been conducting military operations in southern regions to flush out Al-Shabaab from the entire country.
