Somali President Condoles Over The Demise Of Iconic Peacemaker

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has on Friday extended his heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and the public at large over the loss of an icon of peace.

The country mourned the death of Haji Abdikarim Hussein Yusuf also known as Abdi Warabe in Hargeisa, the capital of the northern self-declared republic of Somaliland.

The elder who died at the age of 122 was an iconic Somali peacemaker during his lifetime.

“Haji Warabe was peacemaker, freedom fighter and reconciler among the Somali people mainly those living in the North, ” President Farmajo said in a statement on Friday.

“On behalf of the Federal Government of Somalia, I send my sincere heartfelt condolences to the family and friends left behind,” he added.

For his part, Somali Prime Minister Hassan Ali Kheyre and his Deputy Mahdi Mohamed Guled condoled over the loss of the leader elder who passed away following an illness.

Somaliland President Muse Bihi Abdi and other key officials in his administration attended a national funeral held during burial ceremony outskirts of Hargeisa.
