Somali Police are interrogating three people arrested after an IED went off in a house in northern Mogadishu.

According to sources, a homemade bomb exploded while being assembled on Friday evening.

The explosion which occurred in Deynile district has caused damage to the house but no one reportedly injured by the blast.

Police say owners of the house and a man who rented a room are being questioned.

The move comes barely two days after Vehicle Borne Improvised explosive devices (VBIED) hit a checkpoint near the country’s national theatre.

The blast caused the death of five people and injured nine others.

Al-Shabaab which once controlled the city has claimed the responsibility for the attack.

The group carries out deadly attacks in major towns including Mogadishu and armed raids on military bases manned by Somali army and troops from the African Union.

Somali forces backed by continental forces dislodged the group from Mogadishu in 2011.
