Somali PM Convenes Meeting In Central Town Ahead Of Regional Polls

Somali PM Hassan Ali Khaire was reported to have held separate meetings in Dhusamareb town with leaders of Ahlu Sunna and local security chiefs ahead of Galmudug elections.

The Prime Minister and Galmudug state chief minister Sheikh Mohamed Shakir discussed last night’s clashes between Ahlu Sunna and government soldiers in the town.

The clash erupted shortly after the PM arrived in the city on Monday afternoon for talks over the upcoming parliamentary and presidential polls in the Galmudug State of Somalia.

Galmudug state has been embroiled by political conflict in the past years over the power-sharing between the powerful Ahlu Sunna and the Federal Government of Somalia.
