Somali Military Court Sentences Alleged Militants To Jail Terms

Somali military in Mogadishu has on Tuesday sentenced two al-Shabaab operatives to 8-year in jail after they were found of being Shabaab and taking part in the group’s work.

In a statement, the military court said the prosecutors accused Abdikadir Sufi Munye and Saed Omar Abdullahi of senior administrators of al-Shabaab.

Abdikadir was said to be head of Shabaab in Mareeray village on the outskirts of Afgoye town while Saed was head of finance in the village.

Abdikadir better known by his nom de guerre Amir-Gabow was arrested on the 3rd of October last year in Dharkaynley district of Mogadishu following a public tip-off.

The convict was nabbed 29th of September last year in Hamar-jajab district during operation by the security forces.

According to the prosecution, the two were kept in remand in November until the investigation into their case is being concluded.

The statement noted that the hearing case of their trial begun 21st last month.

Two were found guilty of being Al-shabaab administrators and we’re sentenced to eight years, according to the chairperson of the court, Hassan Ali Nur.
