Somali Military Court Hands Down Jail Sentences To Al-Shabaab Operatives

Somali military court today sentenced two Al-Shabaab fighters to jail terms of between three to eight years after it found them guilty of belonging to the group.

Somali military court today sentenced two Al-Shabaab fighters to jail terms of between three to eight years after it found them guilty of belonging to the group.

The military Court based in Mogadishu declared the two namely Mohamed Abdi Salad and  Ga’al Mohamed Ali guilty of joining Al-Shabaab and being active members of the group’s hit squad known ‘Amniyat’.

Mr. Ga’al who has been Al-Shabaab member since 2015 was found guilty of sneaking into Mogadishu intending to collect information for the militants.

He was arrested on February 13, 2018, by security officers in an operation.

The other defendant, Mohamed Abdi Salad was arrested April 18, 2017, by the security forces.

In defense, Mr. Salad who reportedly was operating in Mogadishu as a barber denied all allegations leveled against him.
