According to witnesses, the explosion which has resulted from a roadside bomb has ripped through a convoy ferrying Somali troops at Taredishe area, about 13Km west of the capital.

Al Shabaab has claimed credit for the attack and said it killed the commissioner of Elbur district and his security guards after their vehicle was hit by a remote-controlled IED.

Radio Shabelle, however, could not independently verify the claim of Al-Shabaab over the death of the DC. The Somali military did not respond to calls for comment.
