A video clip captured BK saying peace in Mogadishu depends on Somaliland’s recognition amid Somalia mourning the second deadliest attack in two years in Mogadishu which killed over people.

“I would like to urge those in Mogadishu let go Somaliland to recognition and they (Somalia) will get peace. Even if I am to be beheaded, I will keep saying hail Somaliland. I don’t hate Somalis but let them respect my desire,” BK said a video which went viral on social media “I would like to urge Mogadishu to allow Somaliland to get recognition, because if they (Somalia) allow Somaliland get recognition then the bombs and challenges will end.”

BK’s remarks attracted anger and rebuke with Somalis online condemning him.

In an interview with Universal TV, BK made a public apology saying his sentiments were misrepresented.

“I extend my condolences to the relatives of victims of the blast. Misrepresentation is worse than sorcery. I said good words and extended condolences but some people took advantage and misinterpreted. My fans and Somali people I love you, I apologize to you about what happened, I apologize for those who misunderstood my words,” the singer said.
