Senate Appoints A Committee To Investigate Into Attack On Senator’s House

Somali Senate has on Saturday appointed a committee to launch an investigation into the raid on the residence of Senator Abdi Hassan Awale Qeybdid by members of Somali security forces.

The five-member committee was named following Saturday’s Senate seating in Mogadishu which was dominated by the issue regarding the attack on the Senator’s house last December 30.

Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has formed an investigation committee for the incident, but, until now the findings have not been released to the media.

The house of the Senator has been attacked by UAE-trained Somali forces, with reports that they had an information regarding Al Shabaab suspects hiding in houses around Qeybdid’s home.

However, it’s not clear the motives behind the operation as Somalia’s Ministry of Security is yet to release statement concerning the incident which triggered the Senate to intervene and appoint a team.
