Security Agencies Urged To Remain Impartial In Ongpoing Political Crisis

The second deputy speaker of Somalia’s Federal parliament Mahad Abdalla Awad has urged the country’s security agencies to remain impartial in the current political crisis.

Speaking a press conference, Awad called for tight security at the parliament building but warned the security agencies against mixing into the politics and the deadlock.

The call was in response to the first deputy speaker’s early order addressed to the Police, Intelligence forces and the AMISOM of beefing up security under his instructions.

On Saturday, Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo halted key Parliament session to due to the standoff and began mediation efforts to defuse the rift between the rival MPs.
