Residents Rally In Guri’el In Support Of New Galmudug Leadership

Hundreds of residents marched through the streets of Guri’el town in the Galgadud region on Tuesday in support of the election of the new Galmudug state leadership.

The demonstration has been organized by local authorities to show their support for the election of President Ahmed Abdi Kariye and VP in Dhusamareb town this week.

There have been such rallies in several areas in Galmudug state of Somalia since the election, which is expected to culminate long-running political standoff in the region.

Somali president and US ambassador to Somalia Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo and Donald Yamamoto have congratulated the new regional leader on his election victory.
