Islamic State has claimed responsibility for killing Puntland soldier on Monday in Bosaso town, group’s Amaq news agency said Monday afternoon.

One soldier of Puntland presidency guard identified as Ahmed Mohamed Jama Hurfe was killed another one wounded in the attack in Bosaso.

The attack comes as Puntland President Abdiweli Mohamed Ali is in Bosaso.

The security officials said several suspects have been arrested in connection with the Monday’s attack against the soldiers.

ISIS militant emerged its insurgency in Puntland in late 2015 after it split from Al-Shabaab faction in Galgala Mountains in Bari region.
