The soldier is identified as Hassan Aden Hassan is now in custody and he will be arraigned in court, according to the authorities.

The shooting took place at Juba intersection as police were trying to enforce a nighttime curfew imposed on the city to contain the spread of COVID-19.

Hundreds of people have marched through the capital’s streets on Saturday morning in protest of the murder of the civilians and called for justice.

The Somali government has imposed a curfew in Mogadishu, starting at 7:00 p.m. and urged residents to stay indoors during the hours of the curfew.
