At least one Somali soldier was reported to have died and two others sustained wounds in an IED blast in the country’s troubled south on Saturday.
A witness said the attack took place at Manya-Fulka, a rural area located on the outskirts of Baidoa city after remote-controlled landmine explosion struck a military convoy.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the bombing, the latest in a series of IED attacks targeting Somali and AU troops in the south, mostly claimed by Al-Shabaab.
Meanwhile, the allied forces have managed to flush out Al-Shabaab from several villages in Lower Shabelle region, the mostly recently Janale which fell to the government hands.
