More details are emerging from an explosion targeted Somali government forces in the vicinity of KM-14 area on the outskirts of Mogadishu on Saturday.
The blast which resulted from an improvised explosive device [IED] planted on the main highway linking Mogadishu to Afgoye district in Lower Shabelle region.
A witness said the bomb ripped through a military vehicle carrying soldiers from the region and heading to the capital.
After the blast, the soldiers opened fire randomly at a nearby crowd, killing a passer-by civilian.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack, but, such incidents on the streets were previously carried out by Al-Shabaab.
