HirShabelle state president, Mohamed Abdi Waare has announced Saturday the appointment of a new governor for Hiran region in central Somalia.
According to a statement dated 22nd September, the regional leader has reinstated former governor, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar, known as “Daba-Geed” into the office.
Daba-Geed will replace Abdullahi Ahmed Malin, who has been sacked by the HirShabelle president in a presidential decree. It’s not yet clear the reason for his dismissal.
The decision comes amid a political crisis in HirShabelle, as many MPs are planning to table a no-confidence motion aimed at ousting the current leader accused of incompetence.
