An event to mark the end of the first phase of the reconciliation was held in Baidoa city with attendance of key people, top state leaders, including President Abdulaziz Lafta-Garen.

Somalia’s national assembly speaker, Mohamed Mursal Sheikh Abdirahman, Federal, and regional lawmakers were reported to have participated in the well-organized ceremony

After taking the oath of office last month, Southwest State president, Abdulaziz Lafta Gareen has been working on ways to end the crisis began prior to December election.

At least 15 unarmed civilians have been shot dead by security forces and hundreds detained during violence sparked by the arrest of Mukhtar Robow in Baidoa town.

Somali president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo has recently visited the town and called on the local elders to play role in the reconciliation and collaborate with the new president.
