Several lawmakers and senior politicians have arrived in Kismayu ahead of president Ahmed Madobe’s inauguration slated for this week.
Former South West and Galmudug states president’s Sharif Hassan Sh. Adan and Abdikarin Hussein Guled respectively arrived in the coastal city Saturday.
At least 30 legislators from the Lower House and the Senate have also arrived in Kismayu.
The inauguration whose date has not been publicly announced was postponed from September 26 following travel restrictions to Kismayu imposed by the Federal Government.
Former president Sheikh Sharif Ahmed was blocked late last month from boarding a plane to Kismayu.
The Somali Civil Aviation Authority subsequently ordered all airlines to stopover Mogadishu before they proceed to Kismayo.
The aviation authority has since rescinded the directive. The Federal Government has maintained it does not recognize Madobe’s election.
