Police Commissioner Gen. Abdi Hassan Mohamed announced Sunday a curfew will be imposed on Mogadishu daily from 8pm to 5am for indefinite period of time.

The police boss said the all movements and businesses within the city will remain cease from 8pm everyday to 5am save for hospitals, medical centres and pharmacies.

The curfew will be reviewed based on monitoring of the situation regarding COVID-19 spread, the police chief said. The new measures come as the country records 25 cases of COVID-19 and two deaths.

HirShabelle state minister Khalif Mumin succumbed to the disease Sunday.

Four new cases were recorded in Mogadishu Saturday bringing to 25 the national tally.
