The commission completed the first phase of registration of candidates, and Senate-hopefuls were awarded certificates of candidacy.

The commission has awarded certificates to six candidates: Ilyas Badal Gaboose, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartag, Iftin Hassan Basto, Abdirizak Mohamed Osman, Halimo Jama Mohamed, and Mohamed Ahmed Sayid. Gaboose was the first registered candidate to receive a certificate of candidacy.

The Jubbaland Indirect Election Implementation Committee has jointly inspected the venue set for tomorrow’s Upper House elections. The security responsibility has been handed over to Jubbaland State Police and the AMISOM Police Force.

Jubbaland is the first administration to hold upper house elections, while some other administrations have not yet appointed upper house election commissions.
