At least three people were confirmed dead and 9 others wounded in an explosion in Somalia capital, Mogadishu on Wednesday night, a security official said.

Confirming the incident, Abdulaziz Ali Ibrahim, the spokesman of Somalia’s ministry of security said the blast has resulted from a remote-controlled landmine at San’a junction.

“The explosion was caused by an explosive device planted in a business area along the roadside which killed 3 civilians and injured 9 others,” said Ibrahim.

He has accused Al Shabaab of being behind the attack, adding that Somali security forces are investigating the incident, which was the latest in such bombings in the capital.

Al Shabaab, a militant group allied with Al Qaeda has been pushed out of Mogadishu 2011, but, the militants are still capable of carrying out attacks and killings in the seaside city.
